The story of Sidney Hooten began Feburaury 2, 2913. At about 8:00 that evening he was riding with a friend on Hwy 231 north just south of Pine Level. Mr. Hooten was the passenger and as they began to turn into a convience store they were struck in the rear by a speeding SUV.  The SUV impacted the car at such impact in practically turned a 4 door Caviler into a 2 door. Mr. Hooten was rendered unconcious and was air flighted to Baptist Medical Center. Mr Hooten was diagnoised as having suffered a subdureal Hematoma. Mr. Hooten remained in a coma for 1 1/2 months. After he came out of the coma he was discharged to Capital Hill Health and Rehabilitaion Center. (Essentially a nursing home) because he was incapable of caring for himself. He remained bed ridden for about 3 more months being fed through a feeding tube coming out of his stomach (PEG tube). after about 3 months he was able to transition to a wheel chair but still on the PEG.
